Art Kintsugi (3 Feb)

A$170.00

Saturday 3rd February, 10 am - 2 pm

Join us for a unique and meaningful workshop, where you'll learn the beautiful Japanese art of Kintsugi, a technique that transforms broken ceramics into stunning works of art. Kintsugi emphasizes the beauty of imperfection and sustainability by repairing and repurposing cherished items.

In this hands-on and relaxing workshop, you'll be introduced to the seven essential steps of Kintsugi, using accessible materials and modern techniques. Our expert instructor, Yoko, will guide you through the process, teaching you how to use Urushi lacquer and gold dust to piece together your own broken ceramic object.

What’s included:

All materials and tuition are provided. Participants will each receive a ceramic piece to repair during the workshop and be able to bring home their own stunning piece of Kintsugi art. Don't miss this chance to create a unique, sustainable, and personalized work of art while learning about the mindful philosophy of Wabi Sabi.

Please note:

  • Participants must be over 18 years old.

  • Not recommended if pregnant (due to some materials we use)

  • Items to repair in the workshop are prepared by the tutor (and not individuals items brought in by participants as each piece will take different amount of time to repair which is not suitable for a group workshop) . However, participants are welcome to bring in a ceramic piece from their own collection that needs repair. While these pieces will not be repaired during the workshop, participants can receive a brief consultation from Yoko on how to approach repairing their item after the workshop.

  • No food/alcohol allowed during the class
