Where to Next?

Dear Lyttleton Friends, Members and Community,

We’ve come to the end of an era with the closure of our retail store, and it’s been a huge amount of hard work and community effort getting this far. Our final Garage Sales saw an amazing turn out, and we were able to sell lots of stock and assets, helping us to build the funds needed to ensure we close the retail store with grace. There are still some items available here, and we welcome enquiries. Thank you so much to everyone who has shown their support in so many different ways.

Please know that Lyttleton Stores Cooperative is continuing. And there have been a lot of insightful discussions over the last month regarding the form it will take into the future. We are still analysing the results of the “Buyer Group Expression of Interest” survey, and of our weekly Garden Chats about the Future of Food and Lyttleton in the Mountains. However, one thing that’s clear is that our community still wants local organic produce - particularly fruit and veg!

We will soon be recommencing Organic Produce Boxes, so that you will once again be able to sign up online to receive local seasonal produce right to your door. We are also in the process of putting together several Buyers Groups, which have featured heavily in our discussions of the future.

There isn’t an exact timeline on either of these initiatives yet. We’re still finalising the closure of the retail store, and then we will need to take a little time to rest and revitalise! We expect to start some of the simpler Buyers Groups such as bulk dry goods, chicken and eggs in March, with fruit and veg, dairy, bread, and meat soon after.

We are also very pleased to let you know that the Blue Mountains Food Co-op will be honouring our members discount in their Katoomba Stores until the end of April, you will just need a current Lyttleton Stores Co-op membership card. We can’t thank them enough for their generosity and support in this time.

We will also be continuing with volunteer based community events, such as monthly Craft Circles and Garden Working Bees. And you can keep up to date with what’s happening at Lyttleton on our website and social media. Please direct any questions or enquiries to Pantree@lyttletonstores.com.au, as the shop phone is no longer connected.

More than anything, we want you to know that Lyttleton is still here, still a part of this community, and still working on moving forward in a way that is thoughtful, well considered, and sensitive to our community's needs.

With much love,
The Lyttleton Team
