Introduction to Textile Printing

from 220.00

Participants will learn how to create a design that will work as a tessellating (repeat print) pattern based on different geometric shapes. Participants will then be given the guidance and tips that they need to successfully translate their design into a carved lino print and print onto a length of fabric. They will learn the principles of repeat pattern design and skills in carving and relief printmaking.

Participants will leave the workshop with detailed sketches and working drawings as well as a beautifully finished length of fabric (about 1m) printed in their own design.

Tools and materials available for purchase if participants want to continue their work or make more blocks when they go home.

Miranda Earle has always loved fabric and been fascinated with pattern, form and geometry. She has a strong background in the arts and studied printmaking, drawing and painting at the University of Newcastle. She has developed a technique for printing onto fabric with hand cut lino blocks and stencilling that allows for layers of colour and wonderful kaleidoscopic effect.
